HBO Documentary Films series, The Weight of the Nations created a four-part series exploring the obesity epidemic in America. This part of the series looks at poverty and obesity in lower-class neighborhoods, specifically South Bronx, New York City. Being the lowest income county in New York State, based on what we have learned about class, we can imagine this effect on obesity and overall health of its residents.Â

Watch the documentary in the video section of module 7 and write approximately a 250-400 word reflection on your takeaways of the of how obesity is impacted in this area (South Bronx, New York City) and how this relates back to what we learned about obesity serving as a pathway in which class or socioeconomic status affects our health. Â Consider the socio-economic class of individuals living in this area and the neighborhood advantages or disadvantages this neighborhood offers to its residents when explaining how their health is affected based on where they live.
